Overview
HQ-26 is primarily an anti-air missile used to destroy enemy aircraft and light strike fighters, especially when the ship’s AA is weak. It can also serve as a high-speed follow-up in surface engagements, but its primary role is air denial and countering strike craft.
Tactics
- Keep it as an anti-air reserve: use it to eliminate incoming aircraft when your primary AA is insufficient, or as a follow-up to finish vulnerable surface targets.
- Use to finish carriers or cruising targets that have lost mobility due to missile damage.
- Combine with a staggered laser salvo to confuse AA and increase hit probability.
