Arctic Storms Event Review – Rewarding Grind for Free-to-Play Players
The Arctic Storm event delivers one of the most rewarding limited-time grinds we’ve seen in a while, especially for free-to-play players. With a strong main reward, valuable gacha drops, and multiple viable pieces of equipment, this event feels well-balanced and genuinely worth the time investment.
The highlight of the event is the Fenice helicopter, which stands out as one of the best free helicopters currently available. It can easily be described as the free-to-play alternative to the AR2000. Fenice is equipped with a versatile machine gun capable of engaging both air and surface targets, giving it consistent damage output in most combat situations. Its grenade launcher further expands its utility by hitting surface and underwater targets, while the included torpedoes allow it to pressure submarines effectively in skilled hands.
What truly elevates Fenice is its automatic air defense system, which can destroy any incoming target except missiles. This feature significantly boosts survivability against enemy helicopters and aircraft, especially in close-range engagements. Additionally, the anti-flare missile can lock onto both air and surface targets, making it ideal for countering bombers and enemy helicopters. The helicopter also benefits from three respawns, an excellent advantage for a free reward. While its overall stats are strong, its low speed remains the main drawback.
Beyond the main reward, the Cargo Delivery gacha offers some impressive items. The new JS-30DX adds modern firepower, while the Mark 71 cannon is an excellent choice for ships like Arkansas, especially for players without Archer. The Vladivostok cruiser is another solid pickup—reliable, though not meta-defining. One of the standout gacha items is the Israeli grenade launcher, considered one of the best in the game due to its ability to hit surface and underwater targets and even destroy incoming torpedoes. The HyFly nuke, currently the best laser-guided missile in the game, is another top-tier reward that can drastically improve a player’s loadout.
The free gacha, however, is less impressive. Rewards like Hyunmoo and IDAS have limited usefulness for players who already own stronger alternatives such as MCDN. While the included cannon and drone can help newer players, many low-cost market options still outperform them.
Overall, the Arctic Storm event offers excellent value, with Fenice alone making the grind worthwhile. For free-to-play players especially, this event is a clear win.
