LIREN GOT A BUFF!

CN Liren — The New Meta Cruiser You Didn’t See Coming • Patch Review • Jan 2026

After the latest patch, CN Liren has gone from solid but niche to straight up meta-level. The buffs aren’t just numbers on a sheet — they transform how the ship plays and how you approach cruiser engagements entirely.

First off, the base ship speed increase from 17.1 to 18.7 might seem modest, but in actual gameplay it translates to noticeably better positioning and dodge potential. Cruisers live and die by positioning, and this bump gives Liren a much more fluid feel during skirmishes.

Where the real magic happens is in the weapon and equipment changes. The H/PJ-78A (203mm) received a dramatic damage increase (6000 → 10,000). Sure, the reload slowed (9.2 → 12.2), but that’s a classic trade-off — huge punch for a slightly longer downtime. When your shells finally land, they hurt in a way they never did before, making Liren a credible threat even against more traditional heavy hitters.

Then there’s the EMGL Prototype buff, which is an absolute game changer. With max speed boosted to 778.2, AOE jumped from 15 to 100, and critical chance doubled, the grenade launcher feels epic in both pace and power. Reduced launch delay and better accuracy mean this isn’t just a flashy stat — it’s performance you feel every match. Liren’s GL arguably now has the fastest effective fire support in game, making zoning and area denial insanely strong.

All told, Liren’s redesign isn’t incremental — it’s transformative. It now sits comfortably among the top 5 cruisers, blending speed, punch, and utility in ways few other cruisers can match. If you’re waiting for a sign to main Liren? This patch is that sign.
